Spotlight: Paxten Aaronson

In our first ever player spotlight, we take a look at some clips of Paxten Aaronson from the recent U-20 🇺🇸 USA vs 🇳🇮 Nicaragua match. Paxten got subbed on ~15 minutes into the second half, but made an immediate and consistent impact, as he did in previous games as well.

In this spotlight, we key in on subtle details of his game that show us how he is able to have such great awareness of the field, making him hugely effective in the center midfield for US.

Clarifying the Complex Implications of the CONCACAF U-20 Championship

The CONCACAF U-20 Championship is ongoing right now, with the knockout rounds starting this weekend. US emerged from their group as the top dog, which included 🇰🇳 St. Kitts and Nevis (10-0 win), 🇨🇦 Canada (2-2 draw), and 🇨🇺 Cuba (3-0 win).

Tomorrow evening they’ll play 🇳🇮 Nicaragua in the round of 16.

As I’ve been chatting with friends and family about the tournament, a series of questions have come up. Some that I had no answers for, others that I had answers but no rationale for. So I’ve done a little digging and compiled a rabbit hole of FAQ’s that came up in conversations, along with some interesting learnings. As you’ll see, this under-the-radar U-20 tournament has a wild web of complex interconnections and implications across the world of FIFA internal soccer. Let’s take a look! 👀

Tonight we face El Salvador in our 2nd Group Play match of CONCACAF Nations League. While we’re still the stronger team going into it, this should be a much more competitive match compared to our 5-0 win over Grenada the other night.

Take it all in, because this is the last game until September, when we’ll have 2 final friendlies in preparation of the World Cup in November!

Ferreira finishes the drought!

With a few minutes remaining in the first half, Jesus tucks one away nicely with his left foot, putting us up 1-0 again Grenada! Really great to see him lift a huge weight off his shoulders.

He’s seeing a lot of action tonight, already with 6 shots at the halfway mark. Wouldn’t be surprised if he puts another away (if he remains on the pitch for the second half).

Update: So yea, he ended the game with 4 goals! Bravo Jesus!
