Background

Tonight we face El Salvador in our 2nd Group Play match of CONCACAF Nations League. While we’re still the stronger team going into it, this should be a much more competitive match compared to our 5-0 win over Grenada the other night.

Take it all in, because this is the last game until September, when we’ll have 2 final friendlies in preparation of the World Cup in November!

What we’ll be looking for..

Given this is our last game for nearly 3 months, it’s a key one to see if we can continue turning our offensive threats into goal. Ferreira popped off in the previous game, but Gregg may still be looking to explore additional options. I’d love to see Haji Wright get some strong minutes to see what he has to offer.

Even with Ferreira’s 4 goals in the last game, my personal man of the match against Grenada was Luca de la Torre. He has been incredible in the midfield, with his pace of play, strength holding off opponents, ability to push the ball forward, and identify & execute dangerous through balls. I’m really curious what Berhalter will do with our midfield tonight to see if we can unlock some magic.

Our predictions

  1. Haji Wright will start the game, as Berhalter looks to experiment with our striker situation
  2. Pulisic is back in the starting lineup after a nice break against Morocco
  3. Luca de la Torre gets the start in the midfield again
